POSITON:  Formwork Carpenter

LOCATION: Ottawa – Gatineau

JOB TYPE: Full-time employment

Position Overview:

A formwork carpenter is a type of skilled worker who specializes in constructing formwork that acts as a mold in which concrete can be poured and supported until it sets. This type of carpenter will work with various types of formworks and falsework to create a usable mold before any concrete pouring processes begin.

Job description:

  • Formwork carpenters build the molds that retain wet concrete in the construction of foundation and other concrete structures.

  • Formwork carpenters assemble manufactured forms, made from steel, wood, or heavy plastic.

  • Formwork Carpenters should be in top physical condition and be able to read blueprint.

  • Basic knowledge of carpenter tools and the ability to figure angles, level and square the forms.

  • Formwork Carpenters should also be comfortable working at heights                                                                          

Qualifications: 

  • Aptitudes for mathematics, several geometric measurements to be carried out.

  • Thoroughness, precision, attention to detail because several jobs requiring great precision.

  • Ease of working in a team, collaboration required with other fellow workers, laborers and crane operators on the site.

  • Ability to face a demanding physical environment: outdoor work with the following ambient conditions: frequent temperature variations according to the seasons, with noise, vibrations, and dust.

  • Willing to train for advancement to other positions.

  • Union position with Carpenters Union Local 93 membership.

SALARY: up to $39.99 per hour based on experience

ADDITONAL PAY: Overtime pay

In the absence of an approved exemption, due to federal, provincial and / or some of our clients' requirements, this position may require that a person be fully immunized with a COVID-19 vaccine approved and / or licensed by Health Canada or be subject to weekly tests upon hiring and as a condition of continued employment.
